The Grossmont–Cuyamaca Community College District is a California community college district comprising two colleges, Grossmont College and Cuyamaca College that serve about 28,000 students a year. Grossmont College is located in El Cajon, California and Cuyamaca College is located in Rancho San Diego, California, and primarily serves East San Diego and East County communities.
The Grossmont-Cuyamaca Community College District educates and trains about 30,000 students a year at its two colleges, Grossmont College in El Cajon and Cuyamaca College in Rancho San Diego. The district was formed after East County voters approved the establishment of the Grossmont Junior College District in 1960. The first classes at Grossmont College were held in 1961, and Cuyamaca College opened in fall 1978.
The colleges serve a diverse community of students, primarily from East San Diego County and San Diego, as well as around the state, the nation and more than 50 countries around the world. One of out three East County adults has taken classes at Grossmont or Cuyamaca College.
Each college offers about 150 degree and certificate programs. Grossmont’s programs include nursing and the only forensic technology program in San Diego County, while Cuyamaca’s programs include ornamental horticulture, green energy and automotive technology.
